Several neighbors heard shots fired in their Vernon neighbourhood on Friday afternoon.Brad Albrecht was raking leaves before his house on the 4100-block of 21 Avenue shortly after 4 p.m.
“I discovered’Pop, pop, popup,’ and I looked up, and I watched the car eliminate,” he said.Albrecht stated he thought the sound was fireworks in the beginning.

“I didn’t really think anything of it, and then thought,’Holy crap which has been gunshots’,” he said.A neighbour came running over and confirmed it was a shooting, Albrecht said.Albrecht stated he spotted shell casings on the road and in a different neighbor’s drive, but nobody seemed to be injured. He soon recognized that it seemed like a bullet had ripped right through the back of his pickup truck. “As soon as I brought it into the driveway, I thought,’Oh boy, there’s a hole there which was not there until’,” he said.

Albrecht said he’d only happened to move his truck out of his driveway and on the road a couple of minutes before the shooting since the vehicle was in the way while he was raking leaves.He believes the truck may have stopped stray bullets from hitting a house across the road. Thank goodness nobody was hurt. That is the principal thing. You can always replace alloy, but you can not replace a lifetime,” Albrecht said.Neighbours state they watched as authorities swept the area with metal detectors into the night.RCMP were still investigating the scene nearly 24 hours following the shooting happened but refused to supply any info.
