Even the Wolfe Island ferry won’t be returning to the Kingston region on time due to weather concerns, according to the Ministry of Transportation. The Wolfe Islander III was intended to go to Marysville at the close of the week, but because Environment Canada is calling for inclement weather Thursday, the MTO states it will be slowing the ferry’s delivery.

A warning has been issued by environment Canada to the Kingston region, warning of intense rain and windup to 110 km/h. The ferry was initially taken from service Oct. 6 to get its five-year mandatory dry-dock inspection in Hamilton.Earlier this week, the MTO stated it believed it would have the ability to send the ferry back into the Kingston region by Friday, but now the ferry’s delivery date is up in the air. Since the Wolfe Islander has been absent, the Frontenac II has been moved from Amherst Island to serve Wolfe Island. The MTO is noting that Frontenac II might also be affected by the extreme weather on Thursday.

“If there appears to be a disruption in service, a tweet will be sent out and we will do our very best to supply updates in real-time,” the MTO stated in an emailed statement. The MTO had initially stated that both the Wolfe Islander III along with the Frontenac II will be back at their regular posts the week of Nov. 4. Now, it’s currently unclear when regular ferry service will start up again.
