Environment Canada has issued two warnings devoting the Kingston area to a forecast of intense storms and rain.The weather agency says anywhere from 30 to 60 millimetres of rain is predicted to drop in the area over Halloween on Thursday and into Friday.

The warning also notes that strong winds are expected overnight on Oct. 31 and into Friday morning.Winds near 90 mph are expected to start immediately, together with stronger gusts nearer to 110 mph potential along the Lake Ontario shore.

On Friday morning, winds will still be strong but are supposed to weaken to about 70 to 80 kilometres per hour.The rain and wind are expected to continue on into Friday but will subside throughout the day.

For those wondering whether trick-or-treating may be impacted, Mayor Bryan Paterson stated there aren’t any plans to proceed Halloween festivities into the next day.The Cataraqui Centre also says it won’t be handing out candy on Halloween evening.
